a season for crafting

December 5, 2010

My projects-in-progress are queuing up fast.  Holidays, anniversaries, and due dates seem to be lurking around every corner.

For our best friends’ baby boy; more coming soon.

I jumped for my camera when I caught Elkie in this first pose, but she jumped just as quickly, before I could correct my focus.

Right now my life takes the shape of a small triangle in my living room.  My laptop playing the new Beach House record on the table in front of me; my gray tabby cat kneading a sheepskin mat to my left, and me reading Anne Carson’s Nox— I bought it just today– on the couch.

I’m waiting for my boyfriend to come home later tonight (or early tomorrow morning).  He has been on the road with his band for the past two weeks.

The past two years, the past six months

May 5, 2010

My adult life (which I measure as my post-college life) has been moving at an alarming rate.  It has spanned more than two years now, which I find hard to believe and also frightening.  From the third grade through high school, I kept  good-old-fashioned, keep-out-don’t-read journals.  During college, this habit dropped off, but my progress and experiences were still documented, I think, through mid terms and final projects.  Sadly, these past 2+ years seem lost to me,  documented by hardly anything personal.  And so I’ve decided to leave my little mark– my little trail of bread crumbs– via blog.  To catch up, I’ve recounted a selection of my life’s encounters during the past six months.
